Mashado Beach Resort

A luxury hotel with 40 a/c rooms, en suite bathrooms, a swimming pool, lovely gardens, nice restaurant and its own private airstrip, which the lodges south of Pangani use. In fact nothing faults it but there are no guests! Despite its plushness the hotel has become a bit of a folly since it was built in the mid- 1990s and has twice gone bust and closed. The reason is that it is not a beach resort at all and is built on the top of the cliff. On our visit it was remarkably still open and well maintained but was completely empty. Nevertheless, if you want to stay here give them at least 4 days notice and the only contact is the mobile number. Rates are a (very negotiable) US$100 per person full board.
